Not all individuals are able to get pregnant as easily as they would like.  Some individuals are able to conceive the first time that they try while others may take a few months.  Still, there are some couples that have been trying to get pregnant for years and they might find themselves asking “why can’t I get pregnant”?  This is a good question and there are several different answers that could be given.

First of all, when asking yourself “why can’t I get pregnant” it is equally important to ask yourself if you are ovulating.  This is completely necessary in order for conception to take place.  Without ovulation, there is no egg for the sperm to fertilize.  This means that pregnancy will not take place no matter how long the woman tries.

If a female does not think that she is ovulating she can purchase an over the counter ovulation kit and try using it for a few months.  If this is not showing ovulation then she will want to make an appointment with her doctor for more testing.  However, if the couple does not want to wait that long to see results, they might want to skip the ovulation test and contact a doctor immediately to set up an appointment.

Another answer to the question “why can’t I get pregnant” might not have anything at all to do with the female.  The problem might actually be related to the man and his sperm.  The female may be producing an egg every month but her partner may have a low sperm count.  This could be the root of the problem but it would take a doctor to determine if this is the problem or not.  The man would need to meet with the doctor and have special tests completed but it would be well worth it to determine what is keeping the couple from getting pregnant.

The answer to “why can’t I get pregnant” could also be related to the woman’s uterus.  The egg and the sperm may be meeting and the egg could become fertilized every month.  However, there may be a problem with the implantation process.  Therefore, the fertilized egg may not be able to embed within the woman’s uterus so that it can grow and develop.  This would need to be determined by a professional.  In order to find out if that is the problem, an appointment would need to be made with a doctor or even a professional that deals with infertility issues on a regular basis.

Now, just because a couple has not been able to conceive does not mean that there is anything actually wrong with either of the individuals involved in the process.  It may be an issue that is as simple as timing.  That is because timing really does have a lot to do with getting pregnant and most people do not realize that.  As previously mentioned, pregnancy can only happen when there is an egg for the sperm to meet with.  If the couple is not engaging in sexual intercourse at the right time of the month, when the egg is released for fertilization, then conception will never take place.  That is why it is so very important for a couple to identify when they are ovulating so that they are able to have sex at this time each month.  This will greatly improve their chances of getting pregnant.

Some women may find out that the answer to their question “why can’t I get pregnant” could be related to some medications that they could be taking on a daily basis.  Most individuals never take the time to consider their medications and how they can affect the possibility of becoming pregnant.  For those women that are on a great deal of medication, it would be a great idea to speak with a doctor about what is being taking and if it could be causing a problem for them and their attempts to have children.  This may become a very easy fix to a sometimes difficult question.

As you can see, there are several reasons why conception may not be happening as soon as a couple would like.  Taking the time to evaluate all possibilities is really the only way to find out what the problem is for sure.  If you are having a hard time getting pregnant then you should make an appointment to speak to a doctor.
